A VERY YOUNG MUSICIAN by Jill Krementz

A VERY YOUNG MUSICIAN

By

Pub Date: Jan. 8th, 1990
Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Continuing her series of photo-portraits of children involved in different activities, Krementz presents a ten-year-old trumpet player, Josh Broder of Portland, Maine, as he takes lessons, plays with a high-school band and at a Jewish Home for the Aged, attends Interlochen (a music camp in Michigan), and meets virtuoso Wynton Marsalis. Appealing and well photographed, though somewhat superficial in comparison to Beirne's A Pianist's Debut (p. 1598/C--290), which was much more detailed and insightful in portraying a young musician's musical development and career prospects.
