The perky figures of little pigs Bert and Susie--and Erskine's performance in The Snowman (1978)--promise more of a story than Bert's mother's calm acceptance of his distraction from duty. She's asked him to take her prized chrysanthemum to the local flower show, he meets up with Susie splashing in the mud . . . and belatedly remembering his errand, slips and smashes the pot (the flower lands, ha-ha, on the irate judge's head). But mother has nothing to say except do better next time--which may be praiseworthy in real life but ends the escapade with a plop.
