Emphasized, particularly, is the need to protect- rather than destroy- the child's relationship with his father (no matter how worthless he may be); the anomalous position of the father who is usually without custody and his difficulty in maintaining continuity with the child in a part time situation; how the visit should be handled- for the child's sake, and where, the different problems of the widowed- handling the question of death with the child, and accommodating one's life thereafter; remarriage and the position of the stepparent; all of this is handled with realistic recommendations for all involved and with a good deal of sound opinion, judicial and psychiatric- behind it.
