KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a well written story of the wilderness fighting of the Revolution and of Kinrose McKensie who, with all the determination of 14 year olds sets out to get back his rifle which a British soldier has taken from him. He saw a good deal of fighting and played an active part himself before the day that Patrick Ferguson was killed, the British surrendered on Kings Mountain and Kin got his rifle back. The period and the part played by backwoodsmen take precedence over the plot.
