KIRKUS REVIEW

The heroine of this grand yarn is a great fierce she-polar-bear, mistress of the ice pack, afraid of nothing but man. The reader makes complete identification with her, as she pounces on unsuspecting seals for food, eludes the spears of the Eskimo villages and fights to raise her cubs, the only animals who know her gentleness. An exciting adventure story as she is captured by a hunter, and then- through a quirk of circumstances she escapes during a storm. This is the kind of animal story youngsters love, in which the strength and natural resourcefulness of a wild beast needs no human attributes.
