KIRKUS REVIEW

How to begin, what to get, where to go, how to get there, what to do when you get there- and essentially, how to discover the wonderful spirit of the out of doors, are extremely well detailed parts of this primer for living with nature. Wisely, the author advises yard camping and day trips first. More advanced doings include biking, overnights, outdoor plumbing and cookery, proper clothing, firebuilding, dealing with nature's hazards, finding new trailside hobbies. Fine supplementary reading for boy scout troups and a good supply of drawings by M. Stevens make the book an even further pleasure.
