ALPHONSE AND THE STONEHENGE MYSTERY

A hilarious, high-tension spoof that--as was not the case with some earlier Alphonse le Flic adventures--you don't need a map, a family tree, or even a British upbringing to follow. Someone is stealing the stones of Stonehenge--and replacing each with a ""rubber inflatable imitation""--to sell them to an American millionaire who wants ""the rarest rock garden in the world""; and that someone is most-wanted Nick Gristle, who's about to take off in an airship with Alphonse's wartime enemy Wolfgang the Pink Baron. A spectacular air chase ensues, with author Smith allowing artist Smith to pull off eye-boggling feats of perspective and scale. And, also unlike some earlier Smith outings, the pictorial implementation is integral up to the prison lock-up finale.
