ART IN ROMAN BRITAIN

Cambridge University's Laurence Professor of Classical Archaeology has prepared this volume as a ""permanent record"" of the Exhibition of Art in Roman Britain held in its Jubilee Year. A long introduction on this early legacy, sculpture, reliefs, armour, metalwork, figured glass, pottery, fresco painting and mosaics precedes the 260 black and white plates (scene full page; some smaller) divided in these categories. The catalogue at the close of the book gives full detail (size, origins, description, etc.,) of each item in the collection. A specialized sphere of interest would place this in art and archaeological rather than home libraries.
