THE ""MIRACLE"" NEW YORK YANKEES

For a public already well clobbered, this is the fourth book this season on the Yankees, Stengel's on the Random House list, Maris' on Duell, Sloan & Pearce, and new Yankee manager Ralph Houk's on Putnam's Anyway, the ""little scooter"", the once redoubtable Yankee shortstop who nw shares with Me Allen and Red Barber as the official voice of the Yankees, his given a rundown on their big year 1961 which set all kinds of records, more than just Yankee while perhaps a monopoly, is more than pure luck, and old timers, new manager Houk's restyling of the team, and most of the particularly Ford, Luis Arroyo, Mantle and Mari. Klzzuto's one of the most genial and likable commentators on the air- and his book has much of that easygoing spontaneity. Still, it's a little crowded around home plate.
