HOW TO LIVE DANGEROUSLY

Martin Pendle Smith, round about 65, given to small pleasures and large if unwise impulses, is the tenant of hitherto distant octogenarian Miss Smite. He begins to live dangerously when, after a budding friendship with Miss Smite, the lady is murdered and her valuable ceramic collection stolen. Pendle Smith is inexplicably Miss Smite's beneficiary, and he lopes about, pries in a cavalier if hazardous fashion, and at the close knows more than be will tell. A charmer all the way.
