KIRKUS REVIEW

The unique chain of events beginning with Jack's walking the dog, and ending with participation of every zany resident of the apartment house, follows the format and rhythm of the classic nursery rhyme, but obviously tells a new story. How a pail of water happened to fall on Jack is the basic problem, traced comically through to the cook, the cat, the girl with a mop. The rhymes are simple, and Aliki's simple and gay illustrations keep the pages turning. An I Can Read book.
