LAURA LOVES HORSES by Joan Hewett

LAURA LOVES HORSES

Pub Date: April 26th, 1990

Eight-year-old Laura Santana, who is Hispanic, lives on a California ranch where her dad ""keeps up the grounds and the stables."" But when it comes to horses, Laura is apparently given full privileges: she's allowed one horse to take out on her own, another with which she learns to jump well enough to earn ribbons at a show. The circumstances may be vague, but the photos are winning as Laura rides in the surf, through a bosky dell, or in competition. There's not much depth here, but the text is easily read, and the attractive color photos of these beautifully tended mounts are sure to please other children who ""love horses.
