Tangled telephone wires spark a simple case of controlled vocabulary for Skinny, Wizard and Tubby: ""Hello, Pop. Yes, Pop. No, we didn't, Pop. Yes, we will, Pop. Sorry, Pop."" The ""dumb old doorbells"" are ringing in Skinny's house, in Tubby's house, in Wizard's house, and the boys set out to find the guilty party. Scanty clues stump their powers of detection, and the culprit turns out to be a set of circumstances accidentally revealed. The connection is weak, but the conversation is lively, and kids will get the message.
