It's tough tomboy Judy Miller's fifteenth summer on the boardwalk with all the relatives packed into the bungalow out at Rockaway -- grandparents Izzy and Ina, parents Sadie and Al, cousin Bruce (down from his upstate boarding school). Then there's that bastard Uncle Morty, who, according to Judy's diabetic chicken-legged father, is a ""dipso-paro-schizoid"" and according to fat Artie -- soon to be Judy's first lover -- Morty's the 'Moogetsu gorilla."" Despite the nitro-glycerins Al and Morty are always popping, all those pizzas and knishes finally transform Morty into one of the obituaries that are Sadie's favorite reading matter. Meanwhile, Sadie has breast cancer; Al acquires a rash jong playing, mink-coated mistress; Judy has a home-style abortion, courtesy deal old Mom. It's all here -- Murray the K, Eddie Fisher, duck tails, hamburger whappos and Cokes. Cheerful and sassy with a glow of health as American as a sweet-sixteen sugar-and-ribbon corsags -- just a trip down memory lane in the '55 family Buick.
