KIRKUS REVIEW

A southern sociable which features the Georgia town of Witherspoon, a lovable little old lady- Miss Olivia- and her running interference into the lives of all its citizens, and those whom her intrusive if well-intentioned activities affect. There's the new doctor, whom she plans to marry off to her motherbound niece; there's the school teacher who should land either the minister or the judge; there's Judith, the preacher's daughter, whose love life needs realignment; and there's poor white Lettie, about to have an illegitimate child, for whom she finds a rightful husband. Cosy, if you don't mind being snuggled up to in a pretty plain kind of way.
