A night on the town takes Elizabeth, an innocent abroad in Paris, through a succession of alarming experiences when she is picked up in a bar in Montparnasse by Charlie, a writer, John, and a Negro singer- Dante. Her mistrust of John is substantiated by the morning after's evidence of Dante's murder; her pursuit of the killer- from boite to bistro- parallels his search for her, but it is his death at still another's hands which saves her life.... The plot- you might say- is unpremeditated, but the characters and dialogue have a fresh appeal.
