HUMOR FROM HARPER'S

From Mark Twain () to James Thurber (1960) this is a run through of articles, stories, poems -- even drawings (by Steinberg) that have appeared in this magazine. It is quite an array -- Guthrie, Dahl, Durrell (Gorald M.), Kerr, E.B. White. Leacock, Mr. K*A*P*L*A*N. Clarence Day, DeVoto, Shirley Jackson, Robert Nathan, Gypsy Rose Lee, Parkinson, Amis, Frederick Lewis Allen, and, and, and....Some selections are part of published books, but all combine to produce a pleasing, entertaining volume -- whether they are on -- life with father, intelligence testing, Hollywood and TV, animals, history, travel, Indians, children, words and phrases, snobbism, diet, lecturing, bird watching or any number of other topics. Nice pick-up reading and a good gift item.
