SONGS OF AMERICAN SAILORMEN

A compilation of sea shanties, drawn from all available records. The author's Rolland Go is out of print. This is based in main upon that, and many newly discovered songs are included and other material unearthed in the past ten years. Songs of sea labor, ribald roaring tunes and words, dating back to the clipper ships. These are published with words and music, a rich heritage of the sea. The author spent most of her early years at sea in the China trade, so grew up with these songs in her ears. Gordon Grant, marine artist, has illustrated the book, and Lincoln Coloord, brother of the author, has written the introduction.
