A story in the Young Woodley tradition -- the background an English school, the romance one between a young instructor and a hall master's wife. When discovery is upon them, the meek young man tries to save his job, fails and kills the hall master -- all the time having, without staging it a ""perfect alibi"". His crime is not suspected -- the reason for the sacrifice evaporates -- and he becomes guilt-ridden, and eventually loses his own life over a cliff. A psychological novel -- do not sell as a mystery.
