Baby bear is a loner, and so when his mother decides to give him a party and goes happily about her preparations, he wanders off for a solitary swim. But the river is drying up; Baby Bear ""remember[s] beaver dam"" and starts making a wall of rocks across the river; his guests come along and start to help him; and soon all the little bears splash happily in the newly-filled pool and enjoy the bears' day feast together. But the book is a flop, with its trite conception, arbitrary plot, and pictures that would be just plain dull were it not for the glaring color.
