KIRKUS REVIEW

Twenty-five color photos, highlighted with photoluminescent ink, of fireflies, fish and other sea creatures, bacteria, and funguses that glow in the dark. So does the book--after each picture is exposed to light for several minutes. There are a few comments on each organism and a brief discussion of bioluminescence; the photos are quite striking. Still, it all adds up to more of a curiosity than a genuine science book.
