FIRST BASE HUSTLER

From the extreme of total self effacement to blind aggressiveness, Eddie Jarman, a young first baseman, swings blindly. Habituated to resigning all privileges to his younger brother, Eddy anticipates a humdrum life as a garage mechanic. But his aptitude for baseball thrusts him into an athletic career, and in a short time the game is paramount to him. When, through favoritism, he is switched to left field to allow a privileged player to take first base, all the resentment toward his family comes to the surface and he becomes blindly antagonistic. Finally, Eddie reaches a point of equilibrium and with that achieves the possibility to build a solid career, not only as a ball player, but as a man. Joe Archibald combines human interest, drama and baseball in a neat package which will find a certain audience among the fans.
