SHORTSTOP ON WHEELS

With Archibald at bat, baseball fans will undoubtedly sit up and take notice. As usual, his story is entirely sports-centered as the career of shortstop Howie Patton is traced from Little League to high school baseball and straight into the profession. Given a chance to travel from city to city with the Argonauts and compete wholeheartedly, the little shortstop proves he has what it takes. When the manager of the team selects his best men for the Old Sox, Howie is among them. His enormous enthusiasm for the game and his capacity to give it his all more than compensates for stature. This special talent leads to laurels for Howie -- presented at a kind of This-Is-Your-Life dinner in which all the significant people in Howie's career are present. Archibald fans read him for action -- and action they get.
