TOUCHDOWN GLORY

A most satisfactory, engrossing story of the evils that so- called ""football scholarships"" (financial aids to important players) introduced to a fictional Ohio college. It starts on the day when the team wins an unexpected victory and the Coach becomes the first to see how he can make his future out of a good team. It portrays the gradual disintegration of the team's morale, as each player, in small, subtle ways, at first, begins to envision success and money if he ties on to the right opportunities. A wealthy alumnus, drunk with domination, virtually but secretly takes over the lives of many of the team's members, and almost alone, against the temptation of easy money and glib rationalization, Ky Butler, full back and the team's greatest star, stands up against him. Ky is not a bit good-goody about it, and manages to work out his problems of tuition honestly after a try at being ""smart"". It comes out well, in a hard-hitting, mature way.
