When young Jim Dorrance finally enters Annapolis it is after two years as a seaman- two years which have made his aggressive rebellion against authority and the higher-ups become especially firm. Entering only because his conscience tells him to take the opportunity and because he had wanted to go straight in after high school, Jim seems like a real sourpuss. Even football, at which he is very able, does not seem to help and there is girl trouble and marks trouble and all around demerit trouble before Jim snaps to, makes headlines beating Army in a game and at last realizes the true spirit and responsibilities of a Navy man. Earnest and repetitious.
