HARD NOSED HALFBACK

radford College, in the land of ""elms and ivy"", has had a gentlemanly but osing football team for years until a victory, using hard nosed tactics, gives them a first taste of blood. The desire to compete and go on winning precipitates a head- collision on the campus and some of the players withdraw from the Brahmans- a club with social cachet and faintly intellectual notions. Among them Dan Ethridge, who contributes to further successes, and himself must choose between a future coaching at a posh prep school or the perhaps more deserving youngsters of Boys Village.... A story which takes several issues without fumbling its story line. Reliable for this age group and the lower echelon of the next.
