MATEY VISITS NEW YORK

A story with sound effects, for here text and pictures are accompanied by a record (non-breakable) in which the story is read aloud and the successive sounds (trotting pony, dock sounds, harbor sounds, traffic sounds, etc.) break in at the appropriate moment. There are interpolations on the part of the reader, telling the small listener to turn the page (these are occasionally patronizing, talking down). Otherwise the story follows the text exactly. Nice pictures -- double spread with some color. The title is misleading, as the story ends with hearing sheep bells in Central Park en route from vessel to hotel -- scarcely a ""visit"" to New York.
