Sidwestern housewife writes a best-selling novel which transplants her to New York and, expenses her to some of the wheeler-dealers on Madison Avenue. Brimful of integrity, Amy Neal finds that only one of them has a heart under his gray flannel suit- Lee Medford. Lee tries to protect her in the ordeal of her return to the Indiana home town she has faithfully portrayed in her book. ""Amy Neal Day"" and the magazine build-up and ballyhoo are a flop; the Pulitzer Prize goes elsewhere; and Amy punches some major personages in the nose. In the end her ""manic-sincerity"" provokes her divorce but provides her with a new marriage.... This won't best sell, but it's a light entertainment for other housewives- still in their Swirls.
