KIRKUS REVIEW

Another animal monograph, 27th in this somewhat bland series edited by John K. Terres, which has ranged over a variety of familiar creatures -- from ants and snakes through the larger mammals. Again the emphasis is on general characteristics, behavioral cycles, and geographic incidence. A continuing feature of the series is the many photographs and this one has a list of subspecies as well as bibliography.
