Holistic running? We had to look up holistic again. But, whatever you call it, it's still one foot in front of the other at a brisk pace and with considerable perspiration involved. Apparently the difference between holistic running and other kinds is that h.r. has more going for it at dinner parties: ""So I begin my attempt to explain the phenomenon of holistic running by warning you that. . . it is not everything. . . ."" Anyway, there's a little Zen, a little Carl Sagan-izing about the functioning of the human brain, a few quotes from James Joyce, some philosophizing by the author, and then the usual stuff about shoe size, vitamin supplements, etc. Running freaks will dote on this one, for it is written with a certain (please excuse) fast-paced style and a cheery outlook that send it out slightly ahead of the pack. But we've run out of curiosity about the subject.
