SUGARPLUM & SNOWBALL

Pairing a fluffy kitten (Snowball) with a diminutive doll (Sugarplum, 1955) gives a pastel attraction to a flimsy story. Sugarplum, who's always getting lost, is safe--if lonely--in Susie's dollhouse until Snowball takes a fancy to her, carries her first to his basket, then to the attic. To thwart him and keep Sugarplum safe, Susie puts her in a drawer--where she languishes until Snowball accidentally finds her and takes her up a tree. Sugarplum knows she should mind, but she doesn't; she's even happier when Susie decides to forego safe-keeping and play with her. ""And guess what""--Snowball gets a doll of his own. The names label it frozen custard--also a soft sell.
