KIRKUS REVIEW

The collector of American Cowboy songs and ballads relates the adventures of his findings. There is a refreshing flavor to this life story of a man who enjoyed so enormously the assignment he has made his life interest. In his book he penetrates deep into the life of indigenous Americans. The backgrounds of some of our now popular songs are fascinating, and his zest is contagious. Interesting and amusing material keeps the book from being highbrow reading.
