MASTER SERMONS THROUGH THE AGES

Of the publication of sermons there is no end, -- and one wonders how often they are read. This collection of master sermons from the outstanding preachers of the Christian centuries however, seem to be an exception. Here is a representation of the hall of fame, with typical sermons which reveal the capacity of the man, the way in which he related his message to the need and understanding of his own age, and which shows how the ageless gospel lays a compelling claim on readers and hearers of every generation. So John Wesley, John Henry Newman, John Calvin, Phillips Brooks, Martin Luther, Henry Sloane , Francis , Augustine, John Chrysostom, Thomas Acquinas, Schielermacher, Kennedy, Donald Baillie, John Donne and many others speak to us at their best, and Christians in this age will be grateful for the opportunity to share with those of earlier generations their most moving and influential preachers. Clergy especially will be well advised to add this volume to their libraries.
