KIRKUS REVIEW

A boy-and-animal story that steers clear of sentimentality but with compassion tells of a 15 year old who cannot be separated from his lion cub or dissuaded from the belief that the cub will grow up tame. The National Forest of Arizona is the setting where boy and cub romp and where Alec finally achieves an adult understanding of his father and his beloved little Rusty.
