DANIEL BOONE

The first complete life of Boone, with documentary source material as the basis for a thoroughgoing job. There are a few legends smashed, and traditional anecdotes questioned, and there is a good sense of Boone's historical importance imparted. Boone's search for ""elbow room"" that lead him into continual trouble with land grants of little value, his value as an explorer, surveyor, frontier settler and Indian fighter, the esteem in which he was held and his long life which was filled, from beginning to end with adventure. It's good Americana, authentic pioneer material and worthwhile as a definitive work on the subject.
