KIRKUS REVIEW

Poems of a noteworthy and accomplished craftsman, hitherto published only in periodicals, anthologies, and a New Directions booklet. Berryman belongs to the Wallace Stevens' school of writing, and takes Stevens as his model. He is less important in what he has to say, less marmoreal in his architecture, but he has structure and craft. A poet to be followed by those interested in America's current poetic trend.
