A SOUR APPLE TREE

A chase, by British Foreign Office Intelligence, for the end, and the true story, of a traitor -- Glyde -- takes Michael Howard, and his superior General Kirk, and Glyde's sister, from local mental institutions to East Germany, to a sunken submarine, and through assorted maniac killings. Missing after the war, believed dead, fourteen years later Glyde is still Kirk's quarry and when murders, and near murders, seem to tie in with his clear cut search, he and Howard, with assists from Glyde's sister Penny, try link after link until secret papers relating to experimental brain work, and the establishment of uncontrolled power bring them their monstrous prey. A nice try for shudders.
