HEATHER HERITAGE

With no end of nostalgia, an elder man recalls his youth in a small Scotch-Canadian community, and fills out a slim record of incident and people with homely -timentalising, moralising. Life on the farm, at school, church and fair and holidays; the marriage of his favorite older sister, the of his wayward uncle, his father's venture into oil which ends badly. And eventually the dispersion of the family as the home burns down and his parents die. Pretty hard to take.
