KIRKUS REVIEW

Those who first encountered Sir Edward Leithen in Mountain Meadow will rejoice to go back to this early novel (now published here for the first time) in which Buchan tells a sinister adventure involving young Leithen. There is an evil organization, led by a human atan, and his friend, Tommy Deloraine, off on a wild goose chase after Pittron, also disappears, under suspicious circumstances. Leithan, from headquarters in London, earths a series of clues, and eventually discovers that one of England's top men is the brains of this evil Power House, an organization aimed at destruction of civilization. Exciting reading -- straight melodrama.
