Chief Superintendent Kenworthy assists his less intuitive D.C.I. brother-in-law Derek when a civilian inadvertently causes the death of a lance-corporal during army maneuvers in the Breckland. Why has gentlemanly Edward Milner returned again after 25 years to a crumbling cottage now on Ministry of Defence property? A case of ""nympholepsis"" perhaps--the ex-RAF loner seems to be haunted by the image of a young girl he once glimpsed from his plane. Or did he spot something else? Atmospheric as usual, but also bloody baffling.
