Here are the Winthrops' letters, Cotton Mathers' admonitions and exhortations, Ben Franklin's advice and jokes, plus the words and thoughts of Roger Williams, Jonathan Edwards, the stories of Indian capture or cruel witchhunts, the sense of politics and a nation in the making. Although the books of this new series are heavy in the hand, they are filled with such marvelous selections that no American interested in his country's past will be able to resist them. Especially good for serious minds.
