. . . too sweet for most adolescents, and expressions like ""little prattlers,"" ""the roundy sun,"" and ""dropples of rain"" won't endear it. For the most part this selection from the works of a lesser Romantic poet comprises sentimental, detailed evocation or the rural countryside of his childhood; also some lyrics celebrating the passage of time, and a few ballads. Because of their strong story line, the last have the most assured appeal for young people. Of the other elements, the introduction is rather mature for the purpose, the woodcuts, however, just right. A marginal item in any case.
