THE DEEP

A so-so excursion into one of the current SF standbys, a pseudo-Middle Age in the distant future of an unknown galaxy. The humans have two factions, the Reds and the Blacks, engaged in murky dynastic quarrels. The civilization which put them on this planet watches over them with occasional mysterious interventions. There are some awfully dull stretches, but sometimes a nice flash of imagination when Crowley is inventing a bit of geographic or mythic lore for his planet.
