EDUCATION TODAY

By

Pub Date: Sept. 13th, 1940
Publisher: Putnam

This is an admirable collection of speeches, papers, etc., issued over a long period, during which John Dewey has watched the theories he promolgated, far ahead of his time, become basic tenets of American Educational practice. Some of the material dates but is interesting historically; much of it has amazing vitality today; taken as a whole it formulates the soundest philosphy of educational theory and practice that can be imagined. Dewey is THE great name in education. He proves his theory that education is a process of living and not a preparation for future living. He repeats from all angles his plea for the social duty of ecucation, salvation of democracy.
