KIRKUS REVIEW

Talky and often tedious Dr. Fell is in Charleston this time where all the Southern sweet talk won't muffle ghost guns from the past, a stolen scarecrow, and eventually the (tomahawk) murder of the last male member of a social lineage. Lots of family history and history history is reconstructed, with Dr. Fell postulating and expostulating throughout. Seems lak a long way--from he to...................hum.
