This time the antiquarian elements of Mr. Cart's latest novel are more justified by the setting -- not only Victorian but also at a house called Udolpho (Wilkie Collins also appears in person) as well as visits to Madame Tussaud's (like attracts like). ""God's teeth"" this is ""devilish complicated"" to explain but it's mostly about one Nigel Seagrave who suspects his wife is an imposture or a succubus when indeed she becomes two people (one of them now in love with someone else). All of this is accompanied with the usual puffing and huffing but then you can't teach an old doge new tricks.
