KIRKUS REVIEW

This is a good collection, which should solve the story telling hour problem for many parents, teachers and librarians, by bringing together under one binding, an excellently selected assortment of Greek tales, stories from the Arabian Nights, folk tales from England, France, Germany, Denmark, Norway. The material has been drawn from primary and secondary sources, from excellent translations and classic retellings, such as Hawthorne, Grimm, Andersen, etc. The editors have done an admirable piece of work, both in the selection and in the notes, the bibliography, the grading. It should be a valuable reference book for study groups on children's literature.
