A dozen of last year's Broadway hits- Bernardine, The Seven Year Itch, Dial M for Murder, among them, are included in their complete form in this anthology compiled by the well known drama critic of the New York Daily News. To preface the plays Chapman has written a brief commentary on the season in retrospect. Barret Clark in a longer essay presents an encouraging summary of activities in cross-country theatre from the other big cities outside New York to stock companies, local community theatres and the many dramatic projects carried out by colleges and universities. After the plays, there is appendixed a wealth of information- casts and brief notes on all of the other plays on Broadway during 1953, a list of all-time hits, short biographies of theatre world celebrities and a bibliography of books on drama published between June 1952 and May 1953. A good bet for dramatic workshop groups, fine entertainment for anyone with a ""legitimate"" interest.
