PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF REHABILITATION by John Eisele Davis

PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF REHABILITATION

By

Publisher: Barnes

Dr. Davis summarizes general types of mental illness showing the personality tendencies and obstacles that have to be overcome. He discusses the value of tests to show aptitudes and interests -and recommends additional stimuli of competition and desire for achievement. The treatment of Occupational Therapy is excellent. He shows how it gives the patient confidence through his ability to create, which in turn fosters reeducation of the power of concentration. He gives many concrete and useful suggestions in all fields of rehabilitation as well as fully discussing the aims. His book is too technical to be of much value or interest to the layman without some psychiatric background. But with the increased interest in the subject it meets a real need, not only for military rehabilitation problems but for all types of mental illness.
