KIRKUS REVIEW

Recaptures some of the freshness, humor, slightly bawdy quality of Erskine's first big success, Helen of Troy. A not too glamorous but very human picture of Solomon, with a barrel of troubles, economic, social, political -- and woman. A certain gesture of acceptance of the Biblical background is made, but the author takes liberties with facts and theories, legend and hearsay, and makes entertaining reading. A chance to get back some of the old Erskine fans.
